Tofu cheese is made from soybeans, by coagulating soy milk. This cheese is gluten free and contains no cholesterol. Yet, it is an excellent source of protein, iron and calcium. It is low-calorie cheese, since there are only about 70 calories in 100g (3.5oz) of tofu cheese.
Replacing animal protein with protein from soya lowers bad cholesterol, which leads to lower risk of atherosclerosis and high blood pressure. High intake of soy-based products can also lower the risk of breast cancer.
